Patrick Bateman cree en la importancia de tener un buen aspecto físico, vestirse con trajes caros, comer en lugares concurridos por la alta sociedad y codearse con altos ejecutivos de la bolsa. Cobra una cantidad de dinero exuberante por hacer absolutamente nada y disfruta de la música ochentera, en especial Phil Collins, Whitney Houston y Huey Lewis & The News. Pero detrás de esa fachada de ser humano, se encuentra algo totalmente opuesto: un hombre obsesionado con la pornografía, el sadomasoquismo y las mujeres rubias. Un hombre que no siente nada a excepción de ira y orgullo.

A parte de histriónica, perturbadora y hasta, en ocasiones, repulsiva, American Psycho (basada en la novela del mismo nombre de Bret Easton Ellis), en mi opinión, tiene el más delicioso toque de humor negro que he visto. Sí, preocupante pero uno no puede evitar soltar una o dos carcajadas al observar como Bateman ejecuta sus exagerados asesinatos.
